Against the good advice on wearing flip flops, my new books were fine. Today was the best ramble I have ever been on. The variety of paths gave a discovery at every turn. Sun and blue sky. Perfect view of the south coast had walked and part I missed. We could hear the boom of the waves on Lulworth Cove.

I gave way to school of riders, who had seen whales in the east bay. I then found I was catching them up. So stopped to talk to a group of bird watchers. Really interesting as they pointed out birds in the cliff. Later I was entertained by sea gulls mobing a bird for the food in its beak.

Stopped at Lobster Pot, Portland Bill. The best cream tea, cream on jam.. Dorset rules. I did not want to leave the area.

Quarries were everywhere, one photographed had allowed sculptors to do fantastic art.

Had to find a cafe in the leisure centre for an hour as my entry code for the youth hostel was wrong. Was noticed laughing loud at Ken Dodd jokes.

9 miles, walk total 497. Portland YHA.
