Left the camp at 8. Sleep had done me a world of good. Path was quiet. Quantock Head was quite a climb. My intended site, With the car park and toilets would have been good but was an extra hours walk. Listock was a bench made from sea rubbish. I had spoken to dog walker who after found me using the bench, told me how he salvaged it. A well needed Mars bar stop. The path was diverted round Hinkley B power station. although a pain quite interesting. Eventually got water at Steart. Knocked on a door, the water tap was outside, in conversation, they were interested in my adventure. Even gave me biscuits and crisps. The walk to the foot path was at the end of my fitness. Put up the tent. Inside sorting out, then I was asked to move on. The volunteer ranger for the RSPB would not allow me to stay for the night. Seeing my condition, allowed me to camp in his garden, then he and his wife invited me in for tea and dinner and beer. I really enjoyed their company and hospitality. It was a real meeting kindred spirits. To Phil and Jo, many thanks. Back in the tent at 9pm. Day mileage 13 miles, project total 1127 miles. site ST 278 463
