I wish i had pegged out the poles as well as the guy ropes so the tent did not flap so much in the wind. Just before de camping it rained , lightly, again so another damp tent to carry. Left at 7.40am and climbed to the top of the sea wall. Wow. The tide was in and I was so glad i camped land side as i would have been washed out. I t frightened, what would I do if i was woken up by cold sea water? It must have been a spring tide. The wind was against me This was where my map ran out or I walked off my map. I had reseached my phone and found folloing the coastal path i would get to Newport but i had no sense of progress. At 9 I found 3 perfect rocks that looked like fossiised tree trunks . Perfect for sitting on so had a zoom call to Anne to show her the sea and fields. I do not know why i did not zoom call her more as it was wonderful seeing her again. Eventually i found the road that led off to Newport. How i needed a coffee break? the Farmers Arms was closed. Eventually at 12 I got to the Tesco Extra in the hope to buy a map. First trolly was fair game to take the ruck sack from my back. Ooooo...... it felt good. Who cared what I lookied like wheeling my ruck sack around. No luck with the map, but really enjoyed the breakfast. I found I could get a 15.40 coach from there to London for £20. This would save me walking back to the sea wall, wild camping , walking into Cardiff hotel night for £70 ish and coach from Cardiff. It would also be an easy return trip. I arrived at the coach stop 50 minutes early so walked to the shopping centre got my new maps and supplies. The coach was 20 minutes late but caught up time. I phoned Anne from the coach. At lease she did not say why. I was mainly comming home to avoid the storm due on Thursday which if i had stayed would have been 2 nights in a hotel in Cardiff.. Days miles 13 Project total 1226. Comming off the coach at Victoria I could hardly walk. At Bexleyheath it took to Red House Lane to be comfortable.
