Strangely I missed my tent but glad to get up in a dry room with everything dry to pack. Great to have a shower and cereal breakfast. It was nice to be text by Alan my school friend, if i was still walking. Left at 8 and really enjoyed the momentous occation of walking into Wales. A beautiful morning. The Severn Bridge is 2 1/2 miles long. I noticed they have stopped painting it. Eventually found the Welsh Coastal Path. I could hear the church bells from Innage. I was hoping to be able to attend the service. Approching the sign was un clear which side of the fence the path followed. The side i chose was the cow field side. Near the sheds was runny slurry. Really thankful it was only ankle deep. A voice of the farmer said i was on the wrong side and not to go back as it was a bull field. so he helped me to the road. It was really busy with cars and people nicely dressed walking to the church. It was the last service of the vicar and 3 churches were together. I was suprised as no reaction of this smelly back packer joining them. Found a corner seat. It was an anglican holy communion service so took an hour and half. Easily found the path after and belated phoned Anne 3 hours late. I found the Welsh Costal Path well marked and well maintained. Everyone was friendly and chat, a person 32 years with MS refusing to give up, a couple on a short sunday afternoon walk before the inclement weather. I knocked on a door and asked permission to drink from their outside tap. I wanted to get past the M4 Bridge and camp. However, I met a local who said it was ok to follow the path as they had stopped shooting for the day. If I was challenged it was a permitted path and they would have to stop shooting to let me go through. Looking at the map the National trail went back over the railway so i chose to follow the longer route. It was 2.30pm I started looking for streams for water. eventually at 3.30pm I went into the village of Rogiet , knocked on a door and they filled my water bag. Panic over. once i had water i could camp at the next best place. The notice Private Shoot, was a good deterrent from useing some fields. Back on the sea wall i found a site the land side. I had seperated out the tent in the hotel to dry it. Putting it up i had to attach the inner tent after the outer tent was up. Very fidley. Once the tent was up phoned Anne I had stopped for the night. 11 miles total 1213
