Left the cliff top at 8 10. The path was horrible, narrow and slippery. Left at the 1st path to the road. A real uphill slope energy sapper, but good training. Eventually, after passing what looked like military camp but was a beautiful estate, all houses had a sea view, roads were brick. But I needed Google map to get me off the estate to the main road.. Good progress but where were the benches to sit and call Anne. Found one with a view of the Bristol Channel. An hour later found a café in the Methodists church and enjoyed coffee ,cake and a good chat with a community worker. We had a lot of shared interests. 1 hour later on the road met an 86 year old who looked my age.

The cycle path took me around all the cars seen from the M5. A cyclist recommend a wild camp site at Severn Beach, where I could get water from a supermarket. A challenge, but a plan. Avonmouth Village pub,no coffee, but cola was good.No one spoke. A bit sad. Amazed how a target can energise. In contrast the overgrown Coastal Pàth, here was recently cut back path, a real pleasure to walk. Near Severn Beach, a large rain pond, and flat ground. Tried the water which tasted good. Then a very heavy shower. Everything soaked. Exactly the wrong time to rain just before setting up camp. Took ages to get comfortable. Day milage 14 miles, surprised how awake I was.
