During the night i heard strange science fiction lazer sounds, eventually put this to a car alarm. I had set my phone alarm to 5.30am but it did not go off. No power, but it had plenty last night. Tried to charge with the power pack not luck. What would i do without the phone?. I would have to walk to town find out, somehow, how to get a bus to Bristol and coach or train home. The power pack awoke the phone up and I was able to text Anne it was loosing power, but i was ok. Amazed at how dependent we are on phones. in my panic I took the phone apart dried out the battery section, noticed the charge connection was dirty so cleaned it with a pen knife point, dipped the charge connection in methylated spirit and it started charging, it felt like the scene from Apollo 13, as the charge passed 20% text Anne to say it was charging. Really releaved when it passed 40%. Packed up the tent at 8 but the solar panel was not charging the power pack. Left it then saw a flicker of charge, phew. all minor corrections were answer to prayer each time. Walking into Severn Beach with the sun behind did wonders. Glad I camped there as I could not find the supermarket referred to earler. At Old Passage the footpath was closed. I was annoyed the sign posts were un readable and there were no diversion signs. So it was a much longer walk to the the Severn Bridge. I arrived at the service area at 11. There was a travel lodge, If it was under £100 it would be perfect. It came at £70 from 12 noon. I spent the rest of the day relaxing in the room with a newspaper, re hydrating, resting, drying out all the equipment. At 3pm the heavy rain started and this was another reason for the hotel stay, also the clocks went back so got an extra free hour. Walked to Aust to the boar head pub in the heavy rain, for dinner and back at 7. Tried to watch the rugby but I was not really botherd who won to bed at 9. Day miles 5, total 1202 mile
