Due to the croissant delivery at 8.30, had a slow getting up. Enjoyed seeing the lights of Wales last night.

By the time I got to the end of the drive, I took off the rain coat. I was expecting showers, but the coat stayed round my waist.Met lots of backpackers walking the other way.Often sharing our plans for the day. In Combe Martin, stopped for a hot chocolate and muffin. Took the offer of it being slightly warmed. It was wonderful. Usual problems finding the coastal path out of the town. This time up a steep bank, then panic, in full view of the town, the path was not clear. Very overgrown, once had to take the sack off, then another time get on hands and knees. On top was good walking. I was able to enjoy a Mars bar moment at a stream and rehydrate. I wanted an easy day so tried to find South Dean Farm campsite, it opens on Saturday. So had to go on to Lynton. Just past Hunters Inn, followed a group on the bridal track. They were walking about my pace, when I did catch them up, found they were from the Christian conference center. Another rehydration stop and got to the Lynton Camping and Caravanning site at 5 30. Cost £6.60. Wondered why my foot hurt. A splinter must have got infected. 17.2 miles. Grid ref 473370 Project Total 1081 miles
